Welcome to the Isle of Wight Centre
The Isle of Wight is situated off the south coast of England across the Solent from Southampton. Because the Isle of Wight’s mild climate and record sunshine hours make it a fertile, productive island; it is often called “The Garden Isle”.
The wonderfully varied and unspoilt coastline scenery is probably the Island’s finest natural asset, from glistening chalk cliffs overlooking clear waters to the tranquil estuaries which meander inland. Whatever attracts you to the seashore, whether it is beachcombing, bird watching, rock pooling, bathing or just watching the world go by, the Island’s coast will certainly provide inspiration as well as contentment.
The Isle of Wight is also the best place in Europe for discovering dinosaur remains. There are over 15 types known, with a new species being discovered on average every three years. In 2001 the latest dinosaur to be named officially from the Isle of Wight was Eotyrannus, (the oldest ancestor of Tyrannosaurs).
The Isle of Wight is the perfect place to enjoy a relaxing break, at any time of year. It is a stunning island boasting unspoilt scenery and a wealth of fascinating attractions. For the energetic, there are plenty of sports facilities, including windsurfing, sailing and paragliding. And for those who prefer to unwind and explore, there's so much to discover. So why not check out our rally programme and come and join us for a weekend or two.
